The serenade 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik' in G major is one of the most famous and most popular works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and generally one of the most popular works of 'classical' music. Everything of 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik' seems to be simple, entertaining and not demanding. But it is exactly this effect that is the result of a great knowledge of art and extraordinary artistic skills. The serenade Night Music, composed 1782 in Vienna for Prince Liechtenstein, is one of the most famous pieces for wind octet besides KV 375. It is known under the appellation 'Nacht Musique' and is an inspired fusion of the light mood of a Serenade with sophisticated contrapuntal writing, for example in the canonic treatment in the Trio of the Minuet.
