The cello version of the "Potpourri" for viola and orchestra op. 94, was published by Hummel himself. It belongs to the category of the lightest and most pleasant musical forms, and consists of a set of quotations from works by Mozart ("Don Giovanni", "The Marriage of Figaro", "The Abduction from the Seraglio") and Rossini ("Tancredi"). The "Potpourri" is often performed in its abbreviated version, the so-called "Fantasia", consisting of only three sections: the introduction, the Don Giovanni section alone and the final rondo.
